The adoption center at Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary & Hospital is home to many animals who have been abused, neglected, or abandoned. Our strict “no-kill” policy means that these animals will live at Safe Harbor until they are adopted into loving, caring homes. The unfortunate consequence of this policy is that we have limited space and generally do not take in animals that are given up because their presence has become an inconvenience to their owners.

Animals in our care come to us in emergency circumstances, most having been severely abused, neglected or abandoned. Many of these animals would have been put to death at other Palm Beach County shelters because of the expenses involved in rehabilitation. Animals coming to us in need of medical care are restored to good health prior to being placed in a new home. Safe Harbor’s adoption policies are very stringent. We feel that the animals in our care have such tragic pasts, that they deserve nothing less than a wonderful, loving future.

Please consider pet adoption as opposed to pet purchase. There are many loving pets available. All of the dogs and cats at Safe Harbor are vaccinated, licensed, spayed/neutered, and micro-chipped prior to being adopted.
